Formerly known as Protein Plus BCT™
Nucleic Acid Plus BCT is a direct-draw whole blood collection tube designed to help preserve plasma integrity during post-collection whole blood storage and transport at 18 °C to 25 °C. It supports research workflows evaluating multiple plasma analyte classes, including cfDNA, cfRNA, miRNA, extracellular vesicles (EVs) and select plasma protein workflows.
Nucleic Acid Plus BCT contains a preservative that stabilizes blood cells and minimizes ex vivo hemolysis and platelet activation, limiting the release of cellular genomic DNA, RNA, EVs and proteins that can interfere with accurate downstream analysis of plasma biomarkers. This stabilization solution helps preserve plasma analyte concentrations without the need for immediate processing or cold storage.
Samples collected in Nucleic Acid Plus BCT are stable for up to 7 days for nucleic acid–based analytes and up to 5 days for EVs and plasma proteins when stored at 18 °C to 25 °C.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Nucleic Acid Plus BCT is intended for the stabilization of draw‑time concentrations of circulating nucleic acids, including cfDNA and cfRNA, as well as extracellular vesicles and select plasma proteins during whole blood storage for research applications.
The preservative reagent in Nucleic Acid Plus BCT stabilizes nucleated blood cells, erythrocytes and platelets while minimizing ex vivo hemolysis and platelet activation. This limits the release of genomic DNA, RNA, EVs and proteins from blood cells, helping maintain draw‑time plasma analyte concentrations.
When stored at 18 °C to 25 °C, samples are stable for:
Protein stability is analyte dependent.
After blood collection, blood cells and platelets can continue to change, degrade or activate. These changes can release genomic DNA, RNA, proteins and EV-related material into plasma, altering measured analyte profiles. Nucleic Acid Plus BCT helps minimize these pre-analytical changes during ambient whole blood storage.
Nucleic Acid Plus BCT supports delayed plasma processing within evaluated ambient stability windows, reducing the need for immediate centrifugation at the collection site when samples are stored and handled according to the IFU.
