ARM-D® Kit, OXA

The Streck ARM-D Kit, OXA is a multiplex real-time PCR kit for the rapid detection of antibiotic resistance genes in Gram-negative bacteria. This comprehensive kit allows you to detect over 500 allelic variants within 9 OXA gene families, OXA-23, OXA-24/40, OXA-48, OXA-51, OXA-58, OXA-198, OXA-134 (including -235, -236 and -237) and OXA-372.

Every kit includes positive controls for each gene target to monitor analytical process as well as an endogenous internal control (16SrRNA gene) to reduce false negatives due to PCR inhibition, DNA degradation or poor extraction.

All Streck ARM-D kits are compatible with most 4-channel real-time thermal cyclers. An amplification protocol and analysis guide are available for the following instruments: Applied Biosystems™ 7500 Fast and 7500 Fast Dx, QuantStudio™ 7Flex, Bio-Rad CFX96 Touch™ and QIAGEN Rotor-Gene® Q.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

The ARM-D Kit, OXA is a multiplex real-time PCR kit for the rapid detection of OXA (oxacillinase) antibiotic resistance genes in gram-negative bacteria. This comprehensive kit detects over 500 allelic variants within 9 OXA gene families: OXA-23, OXA-24/40, OXA-48, OXA-51, OXA-58, OXA-198, OXA-134 (including -235, -236 and -237) and OXA-372.

Streck ARM-D Kits are for Research Use Only (RUO) and are not for use in diagnostic procedures.

The ARM-D Kit, OXA detects over 500 allelic variants across 9 OXA gene families. This extensive coverage includes variants associated with carbapenem resistance in Acinetobacter species and other gram-negative pathogens.

OXA (oxacillinase) enzymes are a diverse family of β-lactamases that can confer resistance to penicillins and often to carbapenems. OXA-type carbapenemases are particularly concerning in Acinetobacter baumannii and other gram-negative pathogens, where they contribute to multidrug resistance. Early detection of OXA genes is critical for infection control and appropriate antibiotic selection.

The ARM-D Kit, OXA is compatible with most 4-channel real-time PCR thermal cyclers. This broad compatibility enables laboratories to use their existing molecular testing infrastructure without requiring specialized equipment.

The ARM-D Kit, OXA includes positive controls for each gene target and a premixed 2X master mix containing DNA Polymerase, dNTPs, MgCl2 and reaction buffer. This complete kit format simplifies workflow and ensures consistent performance across testing runs.

The ARM-D Kit, OXA provides comprehensive detection of OXA resistance genes, allowing laboratories to improve surveillance of carbapenem-resistant organisms, aid antibiotic stewardship programs and support infection control programs.
