CD-Chex CD117® Plus

CD-Chex CD117 Plus is a ready-to-use control for evaluating CD117, CD25 and CD71 expression by flow cytometry. Developed to resemble peripheral blood leukocytes often found in a hematolymphoid neoplastic patient sample, CD-Chex CD117 provides percent-positive values for CD117, CD25 and CD71 on abnormal and total leukocytes. Abnormal leukocytes are distinguishable from normal leukocytes based on light scatter properties and low CD45 expression.

CD-Chex CD117 is a positive procedural control designed to monitor reagent staining, erythrocyte lysis, sample preparation and instrument performance and is compatible with BD® Biosciences and Beckman Coulter® flow cytometry systems.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

CD-Chex CD117 Plus is a ready-to-use flow cytometry control that provides assay values for CD117, CD25 and CD71 on abnormal and total leukocytes. Developed to resemble peripheral blood leukocytes often found in a hematolymphoid neoplastic patient sample, this control features abnormal leukocytes distinguishable from normal leukocytes based on light scatter properties and low CD45 expression.

CD-Chex CD117 Plus is the only commercially available control assayed for CD117, CD25 and CD71. These markers are important for evaluating myeloid neoplasms and other hematologic malignancies, and having a ready-to-use control eliminates the need for laboratories to hold and validate patient samples for quality control purposes.

CD-Chex CD117 Plus is designed to resemble an abnormal peripheral blood patient sample, containing leukocyte populations with characteristics similar to those found in hematolymphoid neoplasms. This patient-like composition allows the control to challenge the entire flow cytometry workflow, from sample preparation through analysis.

CD-Chex CD117 Plus offers 30-day open-vial stability and 90-day closed-vial stability. This extended stability reduces the need for frequent shipments and lot-to-lot correlations, saving laboratory time and resources while maintaining consistent quality control performance.

CD-Chex CD117 Plus is compatible with BD Biosciences and Beckman Coulter flow cytometry systems. This broad compatibility ensures that laboratories using either major platform can implement the control without workflow modifications.

Yes, CD-Chex CD117 Plus aids in meeting the quality requirements for leukemia and lymphoma immunophenotyping. The control provides manufacturer established assay ranges, so there is no need to verify the range per CAP requirements, and users have access to STATS, Streck’s free interlaboratory quality control program for peer group data comparison.

Having both normal and abnormal leukocyte populations in a single control allows laboratories to monitor the ability to distinguish pathological cells from normal cells, which is critical in hematologic malignancy diagnosis. CD-Chex CD117 Plus provides consistent and reliable assay values for both populations, ensuring that the entire analytical process can detect and properly characterize abnormal cells as they would appear in actual patient samples.

Using patient samples for quality control requires laboratories to identify suitable specimens, obtain consent, validate marker expression and maintain frozen aliquots. External quality controls like CD-Chex CD117 Plus eliminate these burdens by providing a ready-to-use control with defined target values that tests the entire preparation, staining and analysis procedure without the logistical challenges and regulatory requirements associated with retaining patient material.
