Streck manufactures hematology, chemistry, and immunology products for the clinical laboratory. In fact, Streck developed some of the first controls for automated hematology instruments, and the company continues to be a leading manufacturer of controls for hematology instruments in the industry.
Streck was established in 1971 by Dr. Wayne Ryan. The company's early history paralleled the development of automated instruments used to count the cells of patient blood samples. In the mid-1970s, Streck began manufacturing hematology reference controls.
Dr. Ryan was instrumental in the development of the first hematology quality control products on the market. The company has since gained worldwide recognition as an innovator of control products.
Streck maintains 65% of the world market of hematology controls through a combination of Streck label, private label and patent licenses. In addition, Streck is the largest supplier of hematology reference controls to Japan. Streck products are sold throughout the United States and 42 countries worldwide.
